Rhodes in a nutshell

Aerial view of Rhodes. (This picture wasn't taken by me)

If you want to escape the stress and pressures of your everyday life, and you are craving the warmth of the sun on your skin, the touch of soft sand on your feet, picture-postcard views, culture, charm and authenticity then you can turn your Canon Digital SLR to the beautiful island of Rhodes, Greece.  A place where you know you can wind down and become your old self again.

Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands and is abundant in beaches, wooded valleys, cobbled streets and filled with ancient history. Rhodes is not just your typical Greek island, it’s allegedly home to one of the tallest statues of the ancient world, Collosus, which once stood at 98 feet high between two columns in the main harbour and is today considered to be one of the seven wonders of the world.

These two columns are where the statue of Collossus allegedly once stood.

Whether you seek the buzz of nightlife and beaches, diving off rock cliffs into crystal-clear water, satisfying your taste buds dining like a true greek, or you are keen to take a culture-vulture journey through past civilisations; not to worry Rhodes certainly has it all and I am certain it wont disappoint even the pickiest of people.

The atmospheric, medieval
Old Town ofRhodes is a place everyone needs to experience. It’s a town surrounded by castle walls and is filled with a maze of cobbled streets spiriting you back to the days of the Knights of St John. In the day you can explore the castle and enjoy fine greek dining at a cheap price; Ta Petaladika taverna is a true hidden gem. At night it turns into a nightlife hotspot for the locals, where you are spoilt for choice. Head to Iono to experience a traditional greek night out; a place where you can sip locally-made wine and watch the lively locals dance on the tables and sing along to live music at the top of their voices. A place where people certainly don’t shy away, Opa!

The island is surrounded by natural beauty and lies amidst the turquoise hues of the Aegean Sea. Don’t forget to venture south of the island to visit the post-card perfect town Lindos. It will fulfill your greek dream of white-washed houses, donkey rides, cobbled and car-free streets and the view of a castle at the top of the mountain. This pretty village looks out onto the beautiful sandy beach of Pallas and the famous St. Paul's Bay, which you can enjoy from rooftop restaurants.

My First video on Rhodes.

Hi all, Happy Easter!
So I'm back home for the holidays for a few days and I decided to create this blog about Rhodes and update it whenever I can.
Here is a small video of my hometown. Apologies for the awful effects, but its my first time and I was taking the video through my iphone. I'm hoping to make it up more professional later on and hopefully I can get a nice camera!

Hope you all enjoy the video and thanks for watching!
